Pangaea Custom Series is a short graphic presentation in possible future design iterations on the current Pangaea Table. Pangaea has over 22 square feet undulating of surface area underneath it's top, not including the side tables. While the form the of the table's base alone is enough to draw one's attention, the opportunity it presents from a graphic design perspective intrigued me enough to attempt a few different renditions of the table.
When creating patterns to overlay, I wanted to use a rectilinear/geometric form as a way to accentuate the piece's form. By stretching shapes, whose form we're familiar with on a flat plane, across a compound curve, the piece's natural shape becomes even further pronounced.
If this piece was to be created, I would likely have this pattern created digitally, sent to a vinyl printer, and then have the pattern hand wrapped and sealed onto the body.
